Kinderdijk UNESCO World Heritage is reopening

A little later than planned, but this time for real: we are reopening! Mandatory walking routes, a limited number of people per location and a lot of attention for hygiene and social distancing: the Kinderdijk World Heritage Foundation (SWEK) has taken numerous measures to ensure the safety of visitors, employees, volunteers, and residents.

Online tickets

The Dutch government has determined that locations such as Kinderdijk World Heritage are only allowed to sell tickets online, to a predetermined number of visitors. As previously announced, the plan was to realize a permanent partial closure of the World Heritage Site. After intensive consultation with residents and municipalities, it was decided not to go forward with this plan. The public area will be monitored by SWEK, a so-called counting post serves as an additional aid. Only if it gets too crowded and the 1.5 metre distance is compromised, a temporary restriction of the access / closure may be necessary.

To visit Kinderdijk you must buy an entrance ticket online in advance. This is an all-in ticket, which means that it is possible to enter all visitor locations, including the tour boats, within the allocated time slot.
