Essential winter maintenance throughout January
Over the first weeks of the new year, Kinderdijk UNESCO World Heritage honours its tradition of scheduled winter maintenance. As some of our locations will be closed to the public in the process, you get to visit Kinderdijk at reduced rates!
Every year, we use the month of January to perform any necessary maintenance activities. For a few weeks, the Nederwaard Museum Mill is closed to visitors as it receives its annual layer of fresh paint. The Wisboom Pumping Station is closed throughout the first month of 2019, too. In addition, our tour boats are hoisted ashore for a few well deserved touch-ups.
Discount
Not to worry though, as there is still plenty left to enjoy in Kinderdijk! The Blokweer Museum Mill is open for your visit every day from 10am to 4:30pm. Step inside this monument raised in 1630, and plunge headfirst into life as it used to be back in the fifties of last century. Of course, the Molenhoek boutique is open from 10am to 4:30pm as well. There’s always a hot drink or a bite to eat waiting for you inside, and you’ll find all your Kinderdijk souvenirs there, too. Due to the limited access to some of our visitor locations, we have a special discount on our entrance fares all throughout January. Adults get to visit the World Heritage site for € 4.50. Children up to the age of 12 get in for just €2.50, while the little ones aged 3 or below can come along for free.
This year, for the very first time, we have a special Winter deal in store for you. For anyone keen on peaceful scenes, the winter period is in fact a very good time to visit the 19 iconic Kinderdijk windmills. Wintertime also sets some great challenges for photographers, too; especially when temperatures drop below freezing point. Have a quick look at our winter page to find out more and to book your reservations!
