Google April Fooled the world with Kinderdijk as inspiration

Google Netherlands published a video on March 31st introducing Google Wind. They filmed the windmills of Kinderdijk and started a thorough post-production.

Windmills that generate wind, not catch it

A pre-visit establishing locations and generate ideas. And then a whole day of filming in our two Museum Windmills before opening hours. More filming on different locations across the terrain to shoot our windmills. All to come up with enough footage to mock up a film to do a traditional April Fools’ Day film to go viral on the internet. As this is written over two million views all ready.

Google Netherlands has a fine tradition of publishing films just like this. Last year they came up with a film called Self Driving Bicycle. Now they came up with a film using another typical Dutch Icon, the Windmill. Where else would they go to film them?
