The Driehoeksveer ferry gets you to Kinderdijk; even in the weekend

Starting this weekend, the Driehoeksveer ferry connecting the towns of Kinderdijk, Ridderkerk, and Krimpen aan de Lek is added to the overall public transport schedule. This gives you the option to make a one-transfer trip to Kinderdijk across the water every winter weekend; an option already available on weekdays and throughout the summer season.

Connection

Travellers using the Waterbus (line 20) can transfer at the Ridderkerk stop, taking the Driehoeksveer ferry to Kinderdijk. In the weekend, the Driehoeksveer ferry departs from Ridderkerk to Kinderdijk at thirty minutes past every hour. The ferry is due to arrive in Kinderdijk seven minutes later, after which it sets a course for the nearby town of Krimpen aan de Lek. Passengers boarding the ferry in Krimpen aan de Lek can depart for Kinderdijk at ten minutes past every hour, after which it continues its return journey to Ridderkerk. The Waterbus and Driehoeksveer ferry schedules are aligned to match their arrival times in Ridderkerk, to ensure that travellers enjoy a smooth connection.

The trial will run from November 1 through the end of March 2019

The additional winter departures trial is a common initiative by Waterbus, Kinderdijk World Heritage Foundation, the Molenwaard and Ridderkerk municipalities, the Waterdriehoek Coalition, and the Driehoeksveer operator. The trial will run from November 1 through the last weekend of March next year. On December 21, 22, 29, and 30, the Driehoeksveer ferry will not be sailing due to the Christmas holidays.
